Advanced manufacturing research develops innovative technologies to improve the manufacturing process of existing products in cleaner, cost-effective, and energy-efficient ways and to create new products. The MAE faculty works on a broad spectrum of scientific and technical challenges to advance energy technology and advanced manufacturing. Their research areas focus on all levels of advanced manufacturing in materials, devices, and systems using information, automation, computation, software, networking, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and sensing, for the goals of improved product quality, smarter resource management, and manufacturing innovation.
